SUPERVISORY TRAINING

  1. Informs supervisors of the company rationale for addressing the problem of drugs in the workplace and how the company drug program will be implemented.
  2. Trains supervisors to recognize signs and symptoms of possible drug/alcohol use and to act using work performance indicators.
  3. Provides supervisors with a comprehensive checklist of behaviors associated with possible drug/alcohol use.
  4. Addresses documentation of reasonable suspicion situations.
  5. Discusses the important issues of consistency and confidentiality.
  6. Addresses actions to take in problem situations involving drugs/alcohol in the workplace.

Supervisors also learn how to respond to statements such as:

  • If we drug test, we won't have any employees
  • I was just in the room with marijuana
  • I took Tylenol with codeine and tested positive for cocaine
  • I ate a poppy seed muffin. Will I test positive?
  • It was not my sample that was tested
  • Drug tests are not accurate
  • I refuse to take the test
  • I can beat the drug test
